Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

At ENVIPLAST®, we are committed to providing sustainable solutions through our bio-polymer products. We understand you may have questions about how our products work, their environmental benefits, and how they fit into your business or daily life. Below are answers to some of the most common inquiries we receive.

Bioplastics are materials that are either biobased, biodegradable, or both. They can be made from renewable resources like plants and may biodegrade under specific conditions, reducing dependency on fossil fuels and lowering carbon emissions. Not all bioplastics are biodegradable, as some are only biobased.

Biobased refers to products that are derived from biological sources rather than fossil fuels. These sources can include plants, animals, and other renewable agricultural, marine, and forestry materials.

Biodegradable means that a substance can be broken down by microorganisms into natural elements such as water, carbon dioxide, and biomass within a reasonable timeframe. Biodegradable materials decompose naturally, reducing environmental impact.

Compostable materials are a subset of biodegradable materials. They not only break down into natural elements but also do so in a compost environment, creating nutrient-rich compost that can enhance soil health. To be labeled as compostable, the material must break down within a specific timeframe under composting conditions.

Bioplastics are generally more expensive than conventional plastics due to several factors, including the cost of raw materials, the production process, and the smaller scale of production. Additionally, the development and optimization of bioplastic technology are still evolving, contributing to higher costs. By using ENVIPLAST®, you are supporting efforts to protect the Earth and all living beings on it, as it helps in reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainability.

ENVIPLAST® WR (Water-Resistant) can be used to protect against rain due to its water-resistant properties. However, ENVIPLAST® WS (Water-Soluble) would not be suitable for this purpose as it can dissolve if soaked in water. While ENVIPLAST® WS can handle small splashes of water, it is not recommended for use in heavy rain.

ENVIPLAST® bags can be used for cold drink bags. We recommend ENVIPLAST® Water-Resistant

Yes, ENVIPLAST® WR (Water-Resistant) are suitable for frozen products

Place them in a composting environment with other organic waste. Ensure proper conditions such as adequate moisture, aeration, and the presence of microorganisms. The bags will break down naturally 3-6 months, contributing to the production of nutrient-rich compost. For household composting, you can use the Takakura method, which involves using a fermentation basket and organic matter to create compost efficiently at home.
